As a further point of potential interest (I'm wandering a bit far from SubChat, but bear with me), I've now finished reading the book that recounts CBST's first forty years.In the early 2000s, CBST had been getting about 2,000 people for Yom Kippur at Javits. In 2001, with the holidays falling shortly after September 11, they expected and planned for about 3,000. They got 6,000. CBST welcomes anyone who shows up to its HHD services. No tickets are required. Thus it was a good available option for many Jews who might have been unaffiliated, but who felt the need to attend services particularly acutely after September 11, 2001. |
