Excuse my lack of knowledge re: non-resident tax rates, but do NJ residents working in NYS pay the same tax rates to NYS as do NYS residents?That depends. They do not pay local income taxes, which residents of NYC and Yonkers do. So, they are deadbeats for NYC compared to local residents. The tax rate table is the same as for NYS residents. Their total income is used to determine their gross liability. This is then pro-rated for the percentage of income that derives from NYS sources. |
