If you have watched Queens like I have over the past 50 years, there is no such thing as "built out".Some large private homes in Kew Gardens have given way to Garden apartments and large, brick apartment buildings, much like the ones built in the 1930's. Younger folks are moving into the very tenements my Grandparents could not wait to get out of in the 1950's, and are packing into the L and M trains. Floors are being added to Brownstones in Brooklyn to add more apartments, and they cost $1.5 million each. Other than the disgusting Newtown Creek area, none of that flooded with Sandy. |
