I don’t know about any sort of “gentlemen’s agreement” regarding the relation between the tennis matches and the school but in the 1950s when I went to school, and before tennis became as popular as it now is, the school year always started the Monday after Labor Day. As I recall that was even the case when I went to high school which I graduated in 1962. |
