exactly. VMT are down, the millenials are not buying cars or even getting driving licenses, and transit use is up. As a geezer, I am often offered a seat on a crowded BART train; if I'm only goinga few stops, I don't bother. The solution to the issue is of course more frequent and longer trains.

In the CTA case, it is too bad the Ravenswood Branch stations weren't lengthened for 10 car trains when they did the rehab/ADA work. On the North-South through Route, the Wilson station should be 10 ready when done, IINM, Fullerton and Belmont were designedto be easily lengthened. The once longest platform in the world is long enough despite the Daley vandalism. Platforms in the Dan Ryan median should be easy. the hard ones will be Harrison, Roosevelt, and the four north of the river.
Then of course, CTA should 1, restore A-B service , and 2, see if they can return to the tight headways ofthe 50s/60s. Just dreamin' I suppose, but it would make service better.
