It may not have officially, but it should have been on Saturday to avoid the problems that did happen then and at night to then avoid any possible complaints from Jewish organizations who can be quite powerful on some things. Having it before Shabbat on Friday had the same effect but caused nightmares for many because SEPTA didn't have enough equipment to handle the overload, which is why it should have been on Saturday when they could have borrowed equipment more easily.Point was, the Papal visit is going to be MUCH different and if SEPTA had simply tried to run a beefed up weekday service that weekend (even borrowing equipment from other lines to do it), it would be a recipe for disaster that would have made 2008 look like it was easy. |
