When the Flushing line opened up for business, the overhead staircase signs on all stations said TO MANHATTAN on top line & TO CORONA on the bottom . This was to indicate service to Alburtis Ave when it was the last stop. When the line was extended to Main St in 1927 or so, all station signs had TO CORONA painted over with CORONA and FLUSHING added. The original sign above the Alburtis Ave staircase read MUNICIPAL RAILWAY TO MANHATTAN when it was the last stop on the line. The TO MANHATTAN AND FLUSHING were on the 111st & Willets PT staircases after the extention.
