It is also true that there was an effort to connect the B&O Railroad of Staten Island to the BRT's planned Fourth Avenue subway in the circa 1920's. Yes, the plans did not proceed, but if they had I believe various NYC histories would have been different. In any case, my vote for the newest subway line segment is the still under construction and not yet opened extension of the #7 train to the Jacob Javits Center. Mike |
