The 148th Street-Lenox Terminal station was probably so named to distinguish it from the 149th Street-Grand Concourse, and 149th Street-Third Avenue stations which are/where major transfer stations in the Bronx.The 148th Street-Lenox Terminal station exists on the grounds of what used to be the IRT's major train yard and electrical plant in Harlem which did span several streets.
