BMTLines gave you a link re the door controls.The fold up seats blocked one door of each side pair to provide extra seating during off-hours. These seats survived unused pretty much until the end of the Standards except for the cars rehabbed c.1960, which had them removed at that time. I saw them used once or twice from my early memory back to 1953 or so. But I suspect regular use ended as ridership declined after WWII. |
