Interesting news. I hope the speed limit signs will also have a warning that radar will be usd to enforce the speed limit.On a serious note, instead of an actual physical second crew member, I wonder if they could save money by having a virtual crew member instead. The virtual crew member would be connected by computer when the train approaches a critical area. He/she would have a view of the operator's position, the track ahead and speed. If the engineer is exceeding safe speed, the virtual crew member could energize a solenoid that would apply the emergency brakes. |
