Right. The door controls were on the door pillar of the center set of doors - you'll notice that it's wider than the door pillars for the end doors.

Aa built, there was a crew member on each car, and buttons to open and close the side doors, as well as the storm doors.

After they were reconfigured for MUDC, the controls at the conductor's working position had buttons to close the doors towards the right and left - both the end door of that car, and the rest of the section controlled from that position - and a separate button to close the center pair of doors.

There's a story, legend or not, of a conductor being pushed out of a train by a passenger realizing it was his stop at the last minute, as the center doors were closing. The motorman got indication, and arrived at the next station with no one to open the doors.
