Heh. Businesses offered benefits because there was a wage freeze because of this thing called a "war." Since they couldn't offer a better wage than the other guy, benefits like health care were used to differentiate better employers from the usual suspects.

Now that the war ended, those benefits have been under attack ever since. And oh yeah. Whose idea were those "benefits?" UNIONS.
