Your personal car maintenance, insurance, garage space/on street parking permit, don't show up. No one totals up the lost value of land wasted on freeways, parking lots, the former orchards and other food producing land now under tarmac of sprawlburbs, and the public health costs of auto accidents, pollution generated disease clusters, and of course the DOD cost of "protecting" oil shipping from our freneies in the Middle East. You maylove your "freedom m,achine" but if you had to pay in user fees all of the indirect costs, you would park it and get on transit. |
