Where was the CNDR?! I'm a qualified conductor on a class III short line. You have to know the physical characteristics of your railroad. That includes MAS at each section. Sure, s/he doesn't have access to a speedometer, but I think anyone can tell that 106mph is not 70..Plus, s/he has a hand held radio. Why was there no "Amtrak 188 conductor to the engineer.... steady up" or "be aware of track speed, engineer. Conductor out." |
