The IND. however was not always consistent in their signage. The south destination on all the IND cars read simple Smith- 9th Street” and did not contain the word “Bkln” as the Church Av sign did. Queens destinations up to Kew Gardens silly read “Queens-Forest Hills” and “Queens-Kew Gardens” until the line was extended to 169 St and the destinations read “Jamaica-Parsons Blvd” and Jamaica 179 St” and eventually”Jamaica 1789 St” even though the signs at many of the station entrances read “Queensboro 8th Avenue” including those in the Jamaica section of Queens.
