Some Lex Thru Exps ran only to/from Bwlg Grn. In the AM rush those trains as well as selected Woodlawn trains that shortened there returned N/B to their respective terminals. There were 3 Lex Wh Pl thru exps that ran exp from 149/3 to E 180 and laid up directly from there after the last S/B thru exp cleared Brook Interlocking. In the PM there were a few S/B lex exps both from Woodlawn and the Wh Pl branch (usually put in at E 180) than ran LIGHT S/B to Bwlg Grn where they were staged in the inside loop for N/B service either to Woodlawn or 241 St as either regular or thru expresses. Although the trains terminated at Bwlg Grn, they were signed for South Ferry but since they ran light, the south destination sign was of little consequence and in any case, after the Wh Pl Rd trains arrived back at 241 St they would be operating to So/Fy since that would be the post rush service pattern. Even now there are still some east side expresses that turn at Bwlg Grn during the rush hours to provide service to the Bronx since those trains are not needed for Bkln service.
