At what point in 7K deliveries do they start junking the 1K's ?Not before all 128 cars procured for the Silver line are delivered. Come to think of it WMATA has already disposed of at least 12 of the undamaged 1k cars, 4 are in a military training facility at Fort A P Hill in Virginia, 6 were shipped to a commercial training facility in Georgia. My understanding is WMATA plans to hold roughly 70 of the 1k cars in reserve after all of the options of the 7k cars are delivered. Me thinks they are doing this to have cars on hand for when 5 and 6k cars are off the property being rehabilitated. Maryland is balking on their commitment to pay their share on fleet expansion options.
