Every know & then some knucklehead tries to kill Amtrak. I remember when Pres Reagen tried his best to do away with all intercity trains. At one speaking engagement, he said that he could give every man, woman & child who rides Amtrak a free airline ticket & the Gov't would save money v/s the (then) current funding.Well, no sale, Ronnie. Nobody (not enough yes men that is) bought that arguement. Trains ran then & they run now & the'll run tomorrow. |
