It is tacit admission that the dual mode trains and the comfy bi-level cars have failed in bringing anyone back from the Ronkonkoma Line.That electrification projects was done in-house and about the only large capital project the LIRR had done that decade that did not blow their time estimated nor budget. Yet,MTA is psychologically opposed to it, whereas they could have quickly followed through to Port Jeff after Ronkonkoma got done. The CTC, passing sidings, double tracked stations, and large parking lots are all there that need to be. |
