I think what may be causing some confusion is that during the time the N ran on Queens Boulevard, and especially on the 1976-78 maps, it was still officially described as the "Broadway Express".

But in fact, it ran local in both directions on Broadway during rush hours, so the only Broadway peak-hour express service was the QB, which (people tell me) only had a few runs.

During the time the N ran on Queens Boulevard, it had at least 4 service patterns:

1) Weekends and evenings: Coney island to 57th Street, express on Broadway

2) Rush Hours: Coney Island to 71/Continental, local on Broadway

3) Rush hours: Whitehall St to 71/Continental (basically, the old EE), local on Broadway.

(patterns 2 & 3 ran at the same time. I knew people who were confused and got on the wrong train...)

4) Mid-day Weekdays: Coney Island to 71/Continental, express on Broadway. During Christmas break in the 5th grade, I got to ride this with my dad- I was thrilled!!

But at no time, was there scheduled express N service on Queens Boulevard.
