However, ridership on the Polo Grounds shuttle began to dwindle to the point that by Jan 1941, the 3 car shuttles from Burnside Ave were reduced to two car ones from 167th Street. Factor in the Unification costs, plus the IND construction costs, and the Lenox connection became less and less viable, especially after WWII. |
