Now that is the case:Before the 2010 blizzard, however many stations often ran figure skating specials and other stuff on Christmas morning (or in WPIX's case, "The Yule Log") so staff did not have to come into work because Christmas day usually was a slow news day. Between that and live sports, stations often did not run newscasts except for 11:00 PM to meet FCC requirements. That all changed after the 2010 blizzard. Point was, there were a lot of things taken forgranted that led to what happened during that storm that no longer are. |
