System-wide shutdowns for weather never occurred in the whole first century of the subway system, clearly it is not happening now because the weather or climate has changed, but rather because our culture has changed. The 2010 Christmas storm Wallyhorse talks about was the precipitating (no pun intended) event, but if it hadn't been that, it might well have been something else. |
