I've dealt with people who think the other way.

The problem is, people in other countries who don't understand the "Ambulance Chaser" society we have here and look at how people in Japan dealt with an earthquake and tsunami and a Super Typhoon that were BOTH WORSE than Sandy have felt that is how it should be done.

A combination of people having family/religious commitments they could not easily get out of without being harshly criticized and in some cases facing worse blowback from family/religious types coupled with lack of normally available media due to the Christmas Holidays (since now available even on Christmas Day) contributed heavily to what happened with that storm

which is forgotten by many.

Had that storm NOT fallen when it did, I think they would have been far better prepared for it and we might not have seen the people stuck as they were in that storm.

That I think is something that would be brought out if firms took the MTA and state to court to prevent future shutdowns and make it look like "ambulance chasers" following the 2010 storm were responsible for the 2015 shutdown.
