Once a week (or every two weeks if only one team is there) is totally different than what happens in arenas. Arena in the Meadowlands struggled with the Devils and Nets, lost both. Stadiums, particularly football have thrived further away from city centers and mass transit hubs but not so much arenas. A number of teams have relocated to downtowns from outlying areas. Other teams built new arenas pretty much where they already were. The economics of arena team sports and fan attendance are different than stadium sports. Stadiums are usually purpose built to meet the needs of one team/one sport. Multi sport multi use stadiums have generally not succeeded. It's sort of apples and oranges.
