Very few cars have safety technologies that help pedestrians

and most of those technologies just slow the car down without driver intervention.
What's wrong with that?

In any event, I wasn't referring to pedestrians, though I see now that maybe I should have been. I was referring to car safety technologies in general that allow cars to operate safely at higher speeds than before.
