Minimally. Where is there room for a transfer yard on Long Island, really?

Based on what I could glean from the Cross Harbor Draft Environment Impact Statement documents the roll on roll off terminals could be at the Port Newark / Elizabeth on the New Jersey side and Fresh Pond Yard on the Long Island Side.

The MTA has curtailed a lot of the former LIRR local freight capacity. I'd like to see the NY&A expand, but keeping trucks in the mix won't let that happen to any significant degree.

I agree. Me thinks the trucking part of the equation would be fright that would not have moved by rail with or without tunnel.
