I didn't know this. Do you know the source of the explosion/fire?

Mark: The incident occurred on a southbound "A" train at 6:36 AM at the 181st Street Station. There was a fire and explosion under car 3006 and the train was taken out of service at 175th Street. The initial report was by Mr.Randy Glucksman who was a passenger on the train and appeared in the December 1996 edition of the ERA New York Division Bulletin. The damge was to a contact shoe beam assembly and housing and to an air bag.

Our own Mr.William Padron was also a passenger on that train and his account appears in the January 1997 edition.

A third follow-up report is in the February 1997 edition. The 3004-3005-3006 unit was taken out of service. The other two three car units were then coupled together and placed in service on the "C" train effective November 25, 1996.
