Posted by Gold_12th on Fri Oct 31 00:09:30 2014 Some details reveal on the MTA board meeting...The Cranberry and Rutgers tunnels repairs for next year: 1. Weekend outage only 2. Only one single track outage to repair for each tunnel. 3. Subway service reroutes between West 4 St, Manhattan and Jay St, Brooklyn during one of the tunnel closures. 4. More details will come next year, the tunnels repair contracts is still on the procurement process till February 2015 Clark Street tunnel repairs for next year: 1. MTA is planning to closed the tunnel on the weekends. 2 track outage. 2. The tunnel repair contract is still on the procurement process till February 2015. (Likely the 4 and 5 trains will replace the 2 and 3 trains in Brooklyn.) The repairs are mainly replacing electrical equipments: new signals, tunnel lighting, pump rooms, communication and power cables, emergency alarm systems and some track repairs. It is noting like the Montague Tunnel repairs that has taken over a year to do major work. Spring of next year will be interesting time. Note: (L) train riders will also be impacted as well in the next year or two when MTA will have to shut down the tunnel and make some repairs. (pending on upgrading the CBTC equipment next year) |
