I'm not sure what you're talking about— it sounds like a bunch of half-remembered urban legends and right-wing propaganda.

However, here in the real world the dollar incurs inflation at the rate of a few percent each year.


While gold... is decidedly less stable.


In any case, if you bought gold for $15,000 in 2006 and sold it for $60,000 in 2012, you would be obliged to pay income tax on your $45,000 profit.
