Gate cars continued on the Brighton-Franklin line, long after Malbone St. After the Brighton subway was opened in 1920, there just weren't enough steel Standards to spare for that service. Also, bear in mind that there were steel Jamaica, Canarsie, and, beginning in 1918- Myrtle Ave Expresses running under Centre St. Hence the gate car rush hour locals that ran on the Broadway-Brooklyn local until 1927.
