As Bob said, "New Payment Technology," which is their upcoming RFID fare card and all associated new infrastructure to support its implementation.If the platforms at certain stations are behind fare gates, then you won't be able to railfan for free any more on those platforms unless you pay to enter the system at that station or arrive at that station by train. And if there aren't fare gates but instead the platforms are within a paid fare zone where you have to tap in before entering, then you can railfan the platform without paying but you'd risk getting a ticket for non-payment of fare. I see these as very serious issues for the commuter rail railfan. |
