Tuscarora Almanac - October 16, 1949 - The Book of First Runs

The first train of BMT Standards ran on the Astoria Line today in test service. The consist was (n) BX Unit 2450 - 4025 - 2451 and B-Type 2536 - 2535 - 2534 .
This train arrived at Astoria at about 5 PM and then began operating as a single track shuttle using the northbound track until the Monday morning rush (10/17/49) when No 2 Fourth Avenue Locals began regular service to Astoria making this an all BMT operation.
