Posted by Newkirk Images on Wed Oct 1 00:10:46 2014 Did anyone catch tonight's episode of Storage wars ?Locker bidder Ivy Calvin bid on a locker and won. So he goes through the items, appraising what they are worth and lo and behold, comes across a box of tokens. But that's not all. To my surprise, he's holding a side roll sign box from an R-11 ! He's cranking it and one of the routes states "4th Ave - Bridge". This really was an R-11 sign box as you can tell by the crank handles are art deco, unlike the crank handles on the R 10-15 boxes. So he take it to an expert to tell him what it is and what it is worth. Lo and behold, he goes to the Orange Empire Trolley Museum. He's walking to the barn and you see the back of some PCC's. A staff member of the museum looks at the tokens and inspects the sign box, telling Ivy that the sign box was from a bus and the bus driver would turn the crank for the prioper route. LOL ! In the end the box of tokens and sign box are apparised at $ 1,400.00. This epsidoe should re-air next week. Bill Newkirk |
