The morning of February 6, 1959 the massive west side subway changes went into effect which eliminated the Bway Exp and 145 St/Lenox lcls and straight railed all Bway service as lcls and all Lenox service as Exps. As part of the publicity, Murray the K arranged to meet the first V/C to S/F lcl at 59 St with LInda Laurie as "Miss West Side Subway" since her "Ambrose" record was popular at the time. I was on that first train and when I saw her I understood why Ambrose took her on dates in subway tunnels since she was less than nothing to look at. I could say that she was ugly as sin but I've seen better looking sins! |
