About 1 month ago I was coming home to NYC after a stay in Virginia. VRE from Manassas was stuck behind a stalled freight and although I had left plenty of time to catch Amtrak 176, I made it to WAS with about 10 minutes to spare. I did not go upstairs and join the long line, I just walked over to 176 told the conductor I was stuck on VRE behind the stalled freight. He just waved me onboard even before the priority ticket holders. BTW the conductor on VRE gave me a free ticket to use on a future trip - a pleasant surprise! |
