Re: 1939 IND WIIorld's Fair Station |

Posted by Express Rider on Tue Sep 16 15:55:29 2014, in response to 1939 IND World's Fair Station, posted by Jeff Rosen on Sat Mar 9 20:20:46 2013. IIRC, in Joe Raskin's routes not built book, he states that there was community interest in keeping this route open after the Fair, and extending it north for some distance, possiblly up to Whitestone. However, he cited public meetings/hearings with John J. Delany, (IND CEO and mover behind building the IND's first phase), who adamantly stated that there would not be the level of passenger use to justify keepin the line permanently, and that he/BOT was not interested in retaining it. Boy, was he wrong! |
