It was keeping a platform clear waiting for it to show up, open up, leave, make sure it was far enough behind a departing seabits to roll, line it up, make it pass and that was on a good day. I asked about it when I was there just to hear about the long-gone run and everybody rolled their eyes because it had to come in on the Q platform then leave and go through the interlocking to the seabits holding up everything on either side of it to clear.It was bad enough in the mornings moving trains out of STL yard and CI yard to get to those platforms, having contramoves on top of it completely screwed up everything in and out of STL in both directions. :( Old timers described it as the most stupid thing anyone could have thought of because all they did was look at the stations, not any other movements in and out of there. |
