The way I see it, grafitti is a part of 6398's (and many of the other preserved railcars') history. Of course, it is a period of time many people, especially those in the transit community would prefer to forget, but it did happen. The way I see it, one could even say these tags make up a paint scheme that the car did wear at some point. She did look similar to this I would imagine when she was saved back in '87. While I personally would most likely be opposed to tagging 6398, I do feel that, if it is for the sake of getting the funds to help restore her to her best, then by all means (money has to come from somewhere right?). Getting funds and the manpower is hard as it is in this hobby / community, as I've come to learn over time. That said, I really do appreciate the work and efforts by everyone who has been involved in 6398's story. Her story continues; this is a part of that story and it is up to us - those who will be volunteering very soon and those who continue to do so - to keep that story going. |
