It does not go where people live in its` present routing. Remember LRT was supposed to develop surrounding areas around the alignment? Have you been between 44th St. and 7th St.?If it wasn`t for the different ASU campuses(and Community Colleges along the route), the ridership numbers would be quite different. Check the numbers when ASU is not in session. Also with the increase in parking fees in downtown Phoenix, it will not send folks to the events down there by LRT, but to the Casinos. More and more top acts are there compared to downtown. Some folks I know from the Eastern suburbs have tried it as a novelty, but have stated they won`t use it again. I realize I may sound selfish, but it doesn`t meet my needs. Not one single bit. I would have been better served with commuter rail as the tracks are very near my residence. I will admit that the eventual extention to Superstition Springs is a positive thing(I can`t comment on the West as I don`t reside over there) I still maintain the LRT does not go where most folks reside. |
