At approximately 5:30 a.m. on Monday, a New York-bound NJ Transit Train struck and killed a person neat the Beers Street train crossing by the Beers Street Elementary School, the Asbury Park Press reported. "The preliminary investigation shows that the male trespasser stepped into the path of the oncoming train," Will Smith, an NJ Transit spokesman, told the newspaper. NJ Transit's North Jersey Coast Line service was suspended in both directions at Middletown and Aberdeen-Matawan stations for the investigation until about 8 a.m. During the time that train travel was suspended, NJ Transit used buses to transport riders around the Middletown, Hazlet and Aberdeen-Matawan train stations, Smith said. http://www.nj.com/monmouth/index.ssf/2014/09/hazlet_teen_reportedly_killed_by_nj_transit_train.html |
