The notice posted does not indicate that the train is a shuttle and will sit in Valley Stream until the e/b trip commences.And sit it does. With the trip between Valley Stream and West Hempstead taking only 15 minutes each way. On weekdays, the mid-day service also runs every two hours. Trains run the 15 minutes to Valley Stream, and then depart back to West Hempstead 19 minutes later (not clear whether or not they reverse into the siding at V.S.). After the grueling 15 minute run to West Hempstead, the crew gets a 71 minute break until heading west again... This must be the most plum job on the railroad. |
