Wasn't stating the Jerome line in particular, he was after the companies themselves. The routes selected for the IND when it was about to be built though were based on taking away traffic from the other companies even though the city owned them. The thinking at the time was that elevateds were old and busted and had to go. So I would imagine with that logic that eventually they would have liked to have seen all of the elevateds go underground. |
