The problem with Oriental is that it looks at Asians from a solely Western viewpoint.And in the phrase "Western viewpoint" you concede the need for a prime meridian. Everyone from 60°E (just right of the easternmost tip of Arabia) to 180°E (where Spider-pig thinks no-one lives) is oriental. Everyone from 60°W (sort of Nova Scotia) to 180°W (Spider-pig and Sarah Palin) is occidental. Everyone in the middle is just bankrupt. THIW. |
