You're proposal is the worst ever. Sure the MTA would make more money ONLY IF the riding habits of people don't change. The unlimited ride cards have encouraged the use of subways & buses as evidenced by records ridership not seen in decades. Removing a popular feature would encourage less use of mass transit and people would use other means of transportation like car sharing, bikes, walking, etc. If anything MTA needs to control costs, not screw riders. The riders span every class & demographic and eliminating unlimited would hurt those that can least afford it. This is not Starbucks where you raise prices and not expect any loss of customers. |
