LIRR station rehab: Wantagh Station Platform Replacement, + ADA elevator

Object/Purpose of Project
This project will replace the station platform and undertake other repairs at Wantagh Station, which
dates from 1968. Each weekday, Wantagh Station has over 5,700 passenger trips. Replacing the
station platform will address structural deterioration and increase safety for Long Island Rail Road
customers and employees, as well as create a more welcoming station environment.

Units/Locations/Limits
Wantagh Station on the Babylon Branch.

Summary
Work includes replacing the platform and undertake repairs to the platform substructure. The
rehabilitation effort will also replace the escalator, platform waiting room, lighting, signage, platform
canopy, and other station elements. Also included in this project is the construction of a new
elevator, making this station ADA compliant.

The budget for this project is $20.70 million. This request is for $20.70 million.
