Posted by Karl B on Mon Jul 28 20:49:08 2014 Back in the mid 1960's the D & H RR bought 4 used PA-1's from the ATSF to use on their run from Albany to Montreal.In less than two weeks the D & H personnel at Colonie Shops refurbished, repainted and relettered ATSF 59, 60, 62, & 66 into D & H 16, 17, 18, & 19. They were put in service on the Laurentian. The new paint scheme was almost as attractive as the original ATSF warbonnet. To D & H fans the new scheme was probably more attractive. A fifth unit was purchased as a parts source to keep the other four running. It was supposed to be a NH engine. Is there any chance that anyone might know the number on that NH engine? |
