The only time I rode the Texas Iggle (Philly/South Jersey pronunciation) it left CHI on time and went into the hole less than 30 minutes out to meet a northbound UP freight. That put it off schedule, so it went into the hole for two subsequent Amtrak northbounds. These were single-ended sidings, so we had to reverse out of the siding to return to the main.On my return trip we were held at Tower 55 in Fort Worth for a UP freight train that didn't show up until 45 minutes later. Once we resumed our trip, we kept getting later and later until the 29 passengers who were transferring to the Capitol Limited in CHI were bused from Saint Louis to Toledo. |
