It's not unreasonable, but it still bothers me. I remember the 1950s, especially the reductions in May 1957 and May 1959. First you make an express service local to increase frequencies at local stations, then you lengthen the headways a bit, because now you have two services where you had only one, so it's "still better." And so on.Saturday Brighton Express was killed a little at a time. First they rerouted the local to Chambers Street. Then they rerouted it to Franklin Avenue. They they "restored" the local to Manhattan via Bridge and ended the express. I hope this doesn't become a trend. |
